angelsrus replied: "You dont have an illness so why ask"

Marg R replied: "Your question is far to loosly worded to offer an answer."

whats the worst sickness or illness experience you have ever experienced? i dont mean serious stuff for me it would have to be the vomiting bug. nasty

Audrey replied: "A day or two after I had major back surgery, one of my nurses made me sit up in a chair (it was very painful), and my food was brought in. I ate as much as I could, but a little while later I felt absolutely terrible. I warned the nurse, but she said I would be okay. Finally, I threw up while I was sitting up and it was probably the worst I had ever felt because the vomiting made my back move and I felt like the metal rods were going to bust through my skin. It was horrible."

what is "labelling theory" and how does it relate to the illness experience ? social aspects; sociology; doing an assignment and need reference too

Ada replied: "When someone gets labeled with something, it sticks. Social aspects are that any problem will get blamed on the disease that the person is labeled with. For example, if a person sleeps all day because they are ill, but they are labeled an alcoholic, it will be blamed on the alcoholism and an illness will not be looked for. Also, when they go to the Dr., another illness will not be looked for because they believe that the illness has already been found. An example for this is that a person has been diagnosed with depression and sleeps alot. However, the Dr will not check for sleep apnea because sleeping alot can be a symptom of depression. Hope I helped."

when mental patients talk publicly about their illness experiences do they get paid? S who would pay, the audience, the psychiatrists, Pharmaceutical companies or a government

Pick A Winner replied: "It depends on who they are talking to. In some cases yes, in some no."

amandafofanda66 replied: "Usually people do that as a volunteer to help others, not to get paid."

mr.bigz replied: "they can do on talk shows,or to magazines(sometimes they buy stories) but they would have to consider the risks of a backlash from people in their community,friends,etc- ps-I knew a Louise M who was a manic depressive-I am not suggesting its you !"

Can someone help me with sociology please??!?!!?!?!? i'm working on my study guide for sociology and i am stuck on a few questions. 1. What is "risk-rating" and how is it related to the reverse coverage law of private health insurance? 2. How do sociologists approach the illness experience and the issue of disability? 3. Explain the two main principles of health insurance. please help :)

B replied: "2. Sociologists argue that disability is not a problem of the "disabled individual" but of disabilitating environments and societies. The argument is that, for example, a person who uses a wheelchair is not disabled because he can't walk, but because society expects him to walk, and thus doesn't provide necessary services like access services. Sorry the other 2 I'm not familiar with at all."

My dog is seriously sick! HELP!? My dog is a 12 yr. old german shepherd, she is a girl. Lately she has been having diarrea and puking up everything she eats. I need help. please anyone, help. i'm worried! she was never like this before. I am worried that she might have a stomach cancer or something. anyone with dog illness experience, or none at all, please, i need your help.

cameron b replied: "you need to go to th vet it could be something she ate or worse like you suspect good luck"

roshana p replied: "take her to the vet before she dies! hurry! good luck!"

colin-irene D replied: "if you are so worried then why have you not taken her to the vet ??? the longer you leave it the worse it will become please for her sake take her to the vet first thing tomorrow morning good luck,,,,,,,,,,"

boxerpitk9 replied: "There is only one answer and it is such an easy answer: CARRY HER TO THE VETERINARIAN!!!!!!!!!! What are you waiting for? Get up and go now!!!!!!!!!!! J. Smith, Animal Control Officer"

Dee replied: "Is there a reason that you guys come online for help instead of going to a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL aka a VET. This is a living thing that needs help."

towanda replied: "You need to get her to a vet ASAP. She could have a multitude of problems and it is impossible to diagnose an animal like this. Be careful what foods you are feeding her. Be sure you are not feeding the foods contaminated with the Chinese wheat gluten or now I hear rice gluten is included too. Only a vet can help you."

Brittnee replied: "Take her to the vet? Why do people always come on here with EMERGENCIES and waste time instead of calling a professional?!?!"

tiggergurl1357 replied: "my 2 rotties had the same symtoms and they both died the vet told us it was parvo whitch is a serious disease among dogs u need to get her to the vet quickly........note that if she is an outside dog and u have inside dogs u do not need to let them around her because parvo is very contatgus u need to keep her separate from other dogs and wash ur hands and change ur clothes before messing with other dogs.....i hope things go ok....BEST WISHES Jordan"

Jaspar replied: "You should probably take her to a vet before anything else. They should know exactly what to do."

Grayce replied: "Get her to the vet NOW! If she keeps on like that, she will die of dehydration. If you can't get here there til morning, make sure she gets PLENTY of water between now and then. No food!"

OntarioGreys replied: "A Vet is the only one who can diagnose and treat Has your dog been eating any of the recalled foods, check here if so get to the vet and let them know"

nikkipba replied: "I would seriously look at the petfood recall list. Those are some of the symptons for them. If the food you have been feeding her is on the list, take her to an emergency clinic immediately! If not, is she still drinking water? If she can hold some fluid, you might be able to wait until tomorrow to take her to your normal vet. If she isn't, take her to an emergency clinic. Good luck!"

mandie replied: "Take her to a vet, you might have fed her tainted food."

vettech replied: "You need to take her to the vet. YES unfortunately cancer is a possibility- but it is more likely that she has eaten something that she was not supposed to- like a peice of a toy or a bone. If they get an intestinal blockage it can cause all of those symptoms- it could also be pancreatitis- common in any dog if they eat something fatty like steak, or really anything can cause it. Most things are treatable, but she is probably begining to get very dehydrated and being an older dog it is very important that you get her treated by the veterinarian. Dont wait any longer- both of you will feel better if you find out whats wrong.- good luck and I hope she feels better soon."

IMPORTANT QUESTION SCHIZOPHRENIA? ok I'm doing some research on this topic, and according to the symptoms that these people who suffer from this illness experience, sounds to me very much paranormal, can anyone give me some feedback on this, any studies that have been done about this.. I was thinking what if, it is just a paranormal experience, and its the brain and the chemical imbalance that makes them be more perceptible to other things, that they end up hearing and seeing things. ? thanks! Ok but all i'm asking is to keep an open mind, aside from everything you've been taught, ofcourse we have been taught that this is an illness, but cant it be possible?.. any suggestions on studies done one this would help a lot!! thnx !!!!! xox

I M McLovin replied: "that could be, besides we still don't know alot about the brain."

Red replied: "WHAT? Wait a second, are you honestly suggesting schizophrenia is the result or cause of paranormal abilities/activities? GTFO. Schizophrenia sucks, and it is by no means paranormal, it's a f**king disease in your head that can ruin most aspects of your life, especially the good parts; go ahead, ask me how I know."

mariethebeautiful replied: "That's freaky but it could mean that they are more in tune than we are...Some people are so intelligent they seem weird to everyone else...yikes"

Savanna S replied: "it's not paranormal or supernatural or whatever you think. people with schizophrenia hear voices inside their heads among other things, but it is paranoia and multiple personality. Like you said, there's a chemical imbalance, nothing else."

PennyLeeD2 replied: "Some schizophrenics have vision or hear voices that they'd like to think are paranormal experiences. It's easier to believe that you are a special conduit than that your brain is lying to you. But the voices and visions come from the brain interpreting wacky misfirings, not from reality. Delve into the details and the story falls apart or changes."

Cosmic replied: "There were studies done in the sixties or seventies where LSD was used as therapy for schizophrenic patients. They were dosed and then worked with by a therapist to revisit traumas from their past or otherwise. I think this was done in the Czech republic maybe, I came across the book in a bookstore one day. Anyway, yes it is very similar to paranormal experiences. I think the difference is that the person does not understand, or it is out of control for the schizophrenic vs. the psychic. To tie in the LSD thing, many non-schizophrenics in the sixties related their LSD experiences to what was experienced by yogis and such and gravitated towards eastern philosophy and teachings, where paranormal phenomenon such as visions, psychic abilities and such are accepted as realities, they call them siddhis. In eastern philosophy such as hinduism, buddhism, yoga, there is a belief that our spirit has nerves called nadis and centers of energy called chakras. That the nerves act kind of like blood vessels for the energy. Also the point of yoga and meditation is to remove blockages in these nadis and chakras so that there is a free flow of energy so that there is a free path for an energy called kundalini to flow. If there isn't a free path, this can cause havoc on the mind and body. What if these schizophrenics had blocked or damaged nadis or chakras causing their paranormal/scizophrenic experiences? What if the therapy coupled with the LSD released these blockages so that their nadis and chakras were clear? The other thing is that it could be damaged brains that turn on other things, like the blind person that hears and smells exceptionally well. It's interesting. Grand Mas seizures are another interesting thing. I saw a guy on PBS that had these and afterward he would be on a high feeling like he is God."

conscience replied: "Even if you were not entirely correct, your observation proves that you are an increasingly intelligent and insightful person. I have often wondered about the same thing: the interlacing of the paranormal pheromone with our normal world. Obviously the brain and all its know and unknown features and capabilities play an immense role in this interface, and the more you read and learn about the paranormal the more you become convinced that the these two worlds are separated by a very thin line with many common and overlapping areas."
